History

COPAL AA LA ESPERANZA, COBAN A.V., Guatemala was founded in 1995 by 86 families of returned refugees who had been living in camps Mexico for a decade due to the genocide of the 1980’s.

Meaning of the Name:

Copal means incense, which is the basic offering to Mother Earth
AA means abundant water in Mam, Q’anjob’al and Q’eqchi’
La Esperanza means hope for a good life for future generations
